I have been fascinated by strength and wanted to lift weights ever since I was five years old. My family, however, would not allow me to do this at such a young age because they felt it would deprive me of other experiences that I should be having growing up like other kids.
When I was 11, I finally convinced my Dad to let me start weight training. He bought me a concrete weight set and told me, "Shane, no pain, no gain." With that always in mind, I relentlessly pushed myself. I trained extremely hard. I would literally spend five hours a day lifting weights, and from all that hard work I was able to bench press 275 lb at the age of 12.
When my Dad saw how serious I had become, he decided it was time take my passion to the next level, so he took me to a gym. He will always have my greatest gratitude for his dedication to helping me succeed in my early years. For example, after working the night shift, he would come home and then pick me up and take me to the gym. He would sleep in the car while I trained for hours.
Not long after I joined the gym, I met a man by the name of Jerry Fitzpatrick. He helped me to develop a true work ethic, and although he literally worked me to death, I loved every minute of it. He is the person who actually introduced me to what the sport of powerlifting is all about. Jerry also convinced me to enter in my first powerlifting competition. This event would turn out to be a major turning point in my life that would change my future forever.
At this meet, I met a man who would soon become, and continues to be, the greatest influence in my life. He graciously allowed me the opportunity to be mentored by him, and through his commitment and expertise, I began walking down the path towards an elite future in powerlifting. His name is Joe Deverville.
I started training with Joe when I was 14 years old. In the beginning, typical of any young teenager, I didn't listen to anything that Joe had to say, even though I knew he had trained with some of the greatest powerlifters of all time, including Ernie Franz and Ed Coan. However, over the years, I began to pay more attention to Joe. He taught me the proper mechanics of powerlifting to ensure that my form was exactly correct. He tought me how to lift in powerlifting suits, and he taught me how to avoid overtraining. I really owe my complete success as a powerlifter to Joe Deverville.
Today, I live and train in Macon, Georgia. I am a member of the Sci-Fit Powerlifting Team with Joe Deverville, Ronnie Bush, Cilas Peed, and Jim Benson.
Up until this past year, I have never taken any sports nutrition supplements. In fact, I had never used any substance, natural or otherwise, to help me develop more strength and build muscle. I know that sounds unheard of (and probably to many of you unbelievable) in the sport of powerlifting and bodybuilding, especially in the upper echelon of athletes. But it's true. Last year, however, after doing some investigating about some unique sports nutrition products, I decided to give it a shot to see if they might help me improve my lifts. I was also hoping that the right supplements would help me recover faster from overtraining. After all, some of my workouts lasted up to five hours and would leave me drained, literally feeling beat down sometimes for weeks (squatting with over 1,000 pounds can do that sort of thing to you). I needed something to change and I was hoping this was the ticket.
After taking a long hard look at all of the different kinds of sports nutrition supplements and sports nutrition companies, I decided to go with a collection of supplements from the Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Muscle & Strength line…To say that I have not been disappointed is a gross understatement.
I am currently using the following products: Somatomax, Estrogenex, Anavar, Sustanon 250, Dianabol, Creatine Overload, OxyBolin 250, and N.O. Overload - all from Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals.
- Somatomax - I take 1 scoop before bed every night. Although this product doesn't really put me to sleep (although I am told that for most people it does), when I do fall asleep, I sleep sound and undisturbed. This gives me a huge boost in my recovery ability and I have great energy throughout my day.
- Estrogenex and Dianabol - I take 1 tablet of both products 3 times daily with meals.
- Anavar - I take 3 tablets in the morning and then 3 more tablets again before I work out.
- Sustanon 250 - I take 2 tablets daily - 1 tablet before my workout and 1 tablet before bed.
- OxyBolin 250 - I take 1 tablet before large meals, which helps me absorb large amounts of protein.
- Creatine Overload - I take 1 scoop once in the morning and 1 scoop before every workout. This is a very high quality creatine product that started working very quickly for me and gave me results within days of taking it.
- N.O. Overload - I take one scoop before every workout to give me the energy and pump I need to make it through long training sessions.
There is no doubt that all of these supplements have produced the remarkable changes I have experienced in lean muscle mass, intensity in the gym, and recent jumps in strength. I believe they are helping me to be in a more anabolic state round the clock, and also helping me maintain higher testosterone levels.
Let me put into perspective the real impact that using Hi-Tech's products have had on my strength and accompanying muscle mass, and in just a very short period of time. At the end of 2010, only after my first 2 weeks using Hi-Tech's products, I gained 10 pounds of muscle and lost body fat in the process. After only 5 weeks, the amount of weight I could handle in my lifts had skyrocketed. My bench press, which had been stuck for close to an entire year, went from 725 pounds up to 777 pounds. This became the new APF American Junior Record for the 308 pound weight class.
It's now been 5 months since I began using Hi-Tech's products, and since that initial jump in strength about 4 months ago, all of my lifts have continued to improve dramatically. In my last meet, just recently on March 6, 2010, my bench press jumped up even further to 800 pounds, which represents an increase of 75 pounds (up 10%) since I started taking Hi-Tech's supplements (again, remember that I was at a plateau on my bench press for nearly one year at 725 pounds at that point). I also pulled a 775 pound deadlift in that same meet, which represents an increase of 60 pounds (also up just under 10%) since I started using Hi-Tech's supplements. I can also now squat well over 1000 pounds with relative ease. Inn fact, in that same meet recently, my squat was 1085 pounds!
My energy and drive while in the gym has never been better than it is now. I can also now train as hard as I want and I still recover from workout to workout. My current walk around weight is 294 pounds, so I can still add many more pounds of muscle in my weight class.
The best way for me to describe my training right now is awesome! I feel like my body is growing with every workout. The focus of my training right now is to build another level of base. To accomplish this, I decrease my weight on the "big 3" lifts and crank up the volume and weight on my accessory work. This is done to lay down the next level of muscle to give my body the ability to handle and lift weight that I have never handled before. The "big 3" are still practiced, but only to keep form. My immediate goal is to decrease body fat while adding muscle to bring my body weight up to 300 pounds.
Although I have not made a final decision as to when my next meet will be, I will be sure to get the information posted on the hitechpharma.com website as soon as I know it.
